My Nuvo problem & ever more Wetlands stamps for masculine cards.Part 1

Thanks again for joining me here on the blog.  Today, I ran into an issue with my barely used Tonic Nuvo Embellishment Mousse.  I have 14 of these and boy, am I sorry!  More on this later.

I am going to finish up making those masculine cards that I started last week.  It is not easy to find time in the craft room these days, but I do need to get on it.  I am again using the Stampin Up Wetlands stamp set which has many classic images.  Though it is retired now, it is an oldie but a goldie!  I thought today I'd use the big goose (or is it a Mallard duck) image and set him in the reeds.

The first thing was to use up some old card stocks that I've got a round and get card fronts layered up.  I ended up going with five different card fronts that had about three layers of colored papers on them.  They each also had a white piece of paper as the card front on which I meant to color the images after I'd stamped them.   I also used numbers to tag the card fronts and on the white pieces so they would not be confused and mixed up.  This would not make it as difficult to line up all the stamping later on.

I did not want to use watercolor paper as the card was already so heavy but I did use Neenah Classic Crest Solar White in 80# .  I did NOT want the paper to warp like the last time when I simply used 65# paper.  It was easy to use the Tim Holtz Stamp Platform to stamp the images in Momento Tuxedo Black or in Rich Cocoa.

Also this time I did all the steps of the stamping one after another so I got into the flow of it and did not stop and do other household chores in between the stamping.  It took a bit of time, but not as long as last time when I kept on interrupting myself.

Now, for the coloring, I thought I'd use my  barely used Tonic Nuvo Embellishment Mousse.  Oh, no!  They are all like little crud balls of color, dried out like a witch's you know what?!

They did not reconstitute when I added water either.  I left them over night and still nothing,  I did send an email to Tonic Studios and am awaiting their reply.  I'll keep you posted on this outcome.

Since I only needed a tiny bit of the colors I chipped off a bit and used my palette knife to break up the clumps and using a bit of water they were able to be used.  It took a long while to do this so be patient and only do so with a small amount of the color as it is a tedious process.  I could then spread the color with a water brush and regular paintbrush.

Now, I sit and watch the paint dry!  It is so disappointing to have had the colors all get so crusty.  I'll be coming back tomorrow to finish up this posting.  Stay tuned...
